The Legacy

Captain Hook began its storied journey in 1996 when the legendary Captain Ron Hamlin brought this remarkable vessel to the rich waters of Guatemala. On its maiden voyage, Captain Hamlin set an astonishing record with 66 sailfish caught in a single day—just the start of countless extraordinary achievements.

In 1997, Captain Hamlin revolutionized billfish conservation by introducing the use of ‘Circle’ hooks over traditional ‘J’ hooks, a practice that has since been adopted by fleets worldwide. This innovation not only protected the fish population but also allowed Captain Hook to continue setting high records, further cementing its place in sportfishing history.

Today, more than 25 years later, Captain Hook Fishing still upholds this proud tradition. Our commitment remains the same: to deliver an exceptional fishing experience, while preserving the legacy left by Captain Hamlin.
